Wireless Communication!

This is a web quest that my friend Kryzjon and I worked on and finished during this week. The thing that I enjoyed the most is learning how the radio works and we need to work on to make it simpler and shorter next time so people can understand better.

The Forbidden Lion

As the other lionesses hunt, Mystic was left behind, pregnant. Her mate, the leader of her tribe, Mamba was also with her waiting for their new trio of cubs to come out of her bulging tummy.

“ROAR!!!!!” Mystic growled as the first cub came out. She was a bit quieter when the second came out but the last one took some effort but to their surprise the last cub was WHITE! It was very rare to have a white cub but was also believed as a curse to the lions. Since their last cub was white they decided to hide it and not tell anyone else.

As the two cubs grow in freedom the white cub now named Ariel (God’s lion, lion of god in Hebrew) was forced to grow in hiding making it very difficult to learn anything. So Mystic and Mamba let his brother and sister play with Ariel for a bit but as he grew older, stronger and bigger it was harder to hide him.

The other tribe members was getting suspicious and one of them saw something white and alive so he told everyone. They figured that it was a white lion and started to rebel against Mamba and his mate Mystic. They finally gave in, sad and worried because Ariel was barely 2 years old and hasn't learnt how to hunt. He only knew how to protect himself from lions that can threaten him.

“A-a-Ariel. My s-s-son,” Mystic stuttered as tears fell from her eyes.
“What’s the problem mum? Why are you crying?!” Ariel ask curiously.
“It’s ... It’s you,” Mystic paused, taking a deep breath then said. “The others found out. We have to forbid you from the tribe and be left in the wild,” She burst into tears and hugged her son tightly for the last time.

Alone, abandoned, sent away by his own tribe and not to be seen again. Not knowing his fate, he set off to venture into the unknown.

The Life Changing Shoe

Everyone was bored to death in chemistry and everyone was waiting for the lunch time bell to ring, especially James. James is a tall year 9 student with black hair, blue eyes and have a pale skin tone. He was counting down in his head. “RINGGGGG!” Went the bell. Everyone was relieved and got up.

Everyone ran out of class and among them was James. As he was crossing his school’s huge basketball court to get to his friends, he came across a very flash pair of basketball shoes. It was dark red and black, the colour was complemented with very simple yet very original designs. So he took it and went to show his friends.

When his friends saw the shoes they all went crazy. One of the boys got so jealous that he snatched it away. James got so angry that he threw a punch at him. They got into a big fight but fortunately the duty teacher was there and stopped them from knocking each other out.

One of the boys was smart enough to take the shoes and give it to the lost property where no one else will find it.The principal had James and his friend run 7 laps everyday after school for 2 months because they were fighting.

Two months later. They learnt not to take things that don't belong to them and one of them is now the fastest runner in the school. He also got an opportunity to represent the country in the Olympics and won bronze medals.

Ban Cigarettes!

There are different brands of cigarettes and lots of people buy them. Lots of people are trying to quit smoking. People like it because of the drug inside it. I think we should ban tobacco / cigarettes.

It is very bad for your health. More people are getting lung cancer because of the smoke they’re sucking in. This is causing death and stress to family and friends. This has raised the death toll and the government is trying to find other ways to stop people from having it. Lots of countries has raised the legal age for smoking, some countries even completely banned cigarettes.

Kids are being influenced and have started to steal from their parents. This is very bad for the children and can lead to more crimes in the future. Parents could go to jail if the police finds out that their children was illegally smoking and they weren't doing anything about it. There is a saying that one cigarette takes away 15 to 20 minutes of your life. So if kids start smoking they could die of a very young age.

People who smoke in their cars just throw finished cigarettes out the window. This starts bush fires and other environmental hazards. This could start unattended fires to factories and could overheat and even blow up and kill a whole town.

This is why I think we should ban cigarettes to prevent cancer and to help stop global warming. The sooner we ban it the less people and animals die.

Guitar Practise

On Sunday my family and I went to church. We prayed and sang songs until Mass ended.

After Mass we went to Sylvia Park to buy the things that we needed for this week. As we passed Eb Games I saw flash, new games that was going to be released this November and I wanted to pre-order one of them. I asked my mum if I could but she said maybe, so I’ll have to wait until the end of this term if I can get one.

Next we had a bit of lunch and then we went straight home. Once we arrived I took out my guitar and the computer to search for a song that was easy for me to play since I was a beginner. I was practising on changing of chords. I had to keep repeating the video so that I could understand what I was doing.

By the time I finished it was 8 o'clock and I had to go to bed. I had a lot of fun and I hope I have more free time so I could keep practising and become better.

The Wonderful Insect

Butterflies are small delicate insect that are usually seen between Spring and Summer. They are in the insect order Lepidoptera which has 150,000 species, moths are within the order. They fly by day while their close cousins the moths fly by night.

Butterflies have microscopic scales on their wings but the more they fly, the scales falls off gradually making them lose their colour. Butterfly species have their own design or pattern on their wings which makes them unique.

They have some enemies of their own. They protect themselves by releasing some chemicals from plants they have eaten. The toxic also allows the wings to change into brightly coloured wings which warns predators to keep away.

Some species of butterflies migrate long distances like the famous Monarch Migration. Some of the butterflies migrate great distances because of the season (like the Monarch Butterfly which migrates in Autumn). Sadly some of the butterflies that travel dies whilst travelling the distance other die from diseases or from aging.

Butterflies eat nectar from flowers. Some also get nourishment from pollen, tree sap, rotting fruit, rotting flesh and dissolved minerals from wet sand and dirt.

They are also important pollinators for some plants along with bees even though they are not able to carry more pollen than bees but they are able to travel longer distance with it.

Butterflies are very unique that it has captured lots of artists’ attentions. Design of butterflies have been carved out since the beginning of time and are also are also seen in Egyptian hieroglyphs over 3500 years ago.

If butterflies weren’t here on earth the earth wouldn’t be as bright and colourful as it is now.

Xbox Fail

Last Sunday, my family and I went to church. It was a special Mass last week because one of the priests is turning 30 on Tuesday the 21st of May. At the end of the mass, there was cake for everyone and no one was to leave the square without a piece.

After Mass, we went to Sylvia Park to shop for food. We bought lots of things and reached our maximum spending. When we finished shopping my dad packed the food into the car, while my mum, little brother and I went to Dick Smith since my brother got a gift card for his birthday.

It took a long time for my little brother to pick what he wanted, until we got to the gaming section. We saw a head set for my Xbox on sale and we wanted it badly. “No” Said mum. We waited for dad come and when he did we asked him instead but in the end we didn’t get to buy it.

We went to KFC for lunch and then we went home. My brother and I took out the Xbox and played NBA for a while. We kept playing until my brother said he was too tired and wanted to watch me instead. So I played NBA league and I had an awesome time. When the match finished I looked at how much I scored. I had 21 and I was going to be the man of the match! But then I accidently pressed the eject button with my toe and the game stopped and the disk came out. “ No! All my hard work for nothing. The game didn’t save! Why does it always happen to me?” I wailed. So I turned it off and went off to watch some television.

Next week I hope I don’t accidentally press it again or the console might crash. I can’t wait until next week.

The Most Exciting Tech Project

Today for tech we started the main project. Mr Niah told us that to choose our favourite cartoon character and write a paragraph why we chose it.

When we finished it he gave us two pieces of wood one larger than the other. Mr Niah said to draw the cartoon character on the small piece for practice before the big piece. My cartoon character was tricky since the claws was hard to cut. I started to use the file to file my one down and use sandpaper to make it smooth. Mr Niah said to fold the sandpaper to make the claws a bit sharp.

Once I finished I went to the poker work machine which burns the wood to make my drawing outline stand out. We ran out of time and I was a bit disappointed because I was just half way and it was so exciting.

I can’t wait for next Thursday and continue my cartoon character and finish it.

My Easter Holiday

On Easter Sunday my family and I did something different this year, instead of going for trip around New Zealand like we usually do we instead went to St Patrick and St Joseph's Cathedral for mass.

After the readings the priest talked about what happens at Easter and what it means to us and how it affects our way of thinking of God. We prayed and sang hymns and when we finished we were 30 minutes earlier than usual.

Since all the shops was closed we went to the beach. We had a little dip in the water and bought food and we thanked God for sending Jesus to save us and for the food. We had lots of fun at the beach and then it was time to go home.

We were tired by the time we reached home. I hope we do something more special next year.
